The Government is committed to continue supporting the agricultural sector including the livestock sector to ensure its full recovery.

In a speech read on his behalf by Gutu South legislator Cde Pupurai Togarepi during a capacity building workshop held at Maungwa Business Centre in Gutu South recently, Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Cde Ezra Chadzamira, said people should be productive to achieve President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of attaining an Upper Middle Income Economy Status by year 2030.

“The Government of Zimbabwe remains committed to support the agricultural sector including the livestock sector to ensure its full recovery. The Government has since put in place a number of programmes targeting the youths and women that are productive oriented to ensure the attainment of food and nutrition security in the nation.

“As a Province, we fully support and thank the President of Zimbabwe Cde Mnangagwa for the establishment of an Agricultural Youth Desk, Command Agriculture and motorcycle support for our extension staff among the huge achievements the New Dispensation has done to the agricultural sector,” said Cde Chadzamira.

Minister Chadzamira said the country’s economic revival is hinged on agriculture and urged people to maximize production in whatever agricultural activity they do.

Cde Chadzamira further urged the youths and women to venture into livestock production as it will also boost the agricultural sector.

He commended the Government for launching programmes such as the Command Agriculture, Command Livestock, Command Poultry and Command Fisheries as they have empowered people across the country.

Cde Chadzamira said the country should thrive to develop citizens who will provide solutions to challenges that might be facing the country and not those who are ready to criticize whatever the Government do.

Meanwhile at the same event, Gutu South legislator Cde Togarepi gave three brand new ploughs to successful farmers in their Wards as a way of motivating them to do more.

Cde Togarepi further donated water pumps, knapsack sprays, maize seeds and other items to people of his constituency.

The capacity building workshops are set to be replicated in other Districts as part of the New Dispensation’s way of empowering citizens.
