Mashonaland Central ZANU PF Provincial Secretary for Administration and Shamva legislator, Cde Joseph Mapiki, has urged people to focus more on economic activities than spending time engaged in politics.

Speaking in Rushinga recently at the launch of Rushinga Agricultural Demonstration Centre, the Shamva legislator said people should heed President Mnangagwa’s call of pursuing economic activities meant to transform people’s livelihoods.

“Our focus should be on the economy and not politics. As a party, we know that we are accountable to the people who voted for us in 2018 and we are working hard to fulfill what we promised the electorate,” said Cde Mapiki.

Honourable Mapiki said ZANU PF was monitoring and evaluating what it promised the people in the previous elections and was happy that the party was fulfilling most of its electoral promises.

Mapiki commended Government for reviving irrigation schemes across the country and said this showed Government’s commitment in ensuring food security in the country.

“I want to thank the ZANU PF-led Government for reviving irrigation schemes across the country. This shows its commitment to ensure food security in the country. As Mashonaland Central Province, we will work with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Resettlement to enhance water harvesting in the Province. We want to introduce fish farming in the Province, particularly in Rushinga, to empower our people,” added Honourable Mapiki.

Cde Mapiki also urged famers to pursue value addition of their farm produce in order to fetch better prices from the markets.

Speaking at the same occasion, ZANU PF Director for Production, Dr Madambi, said the party, through the leadership of President Mnangagwa continued to empower its people through various projects.

Dr Madambi said ZANU PF was a people-driven party and its policies would always be people-centered. He urged people to work hard to ensure the success of the National Development Strategy 1 as well as Vision 2030.
