ZANU PF Chitungwiza Ward 16 Chairperson, CdeVengai Makumbe, has called on youths and residents to join the ruling party, saying it is availing numerous empowerment opportunities to transform their lives.
Speaking to the Harare Post on the sidelines of the burial of Cdes Walter Basopo and Victor Rungani at the National Heroes Acre last Wednesday, Makumbesaid the ruling Party remains the only viable platform for sustainable development and personal growth.
"Young people in Chitungwiza have embraced ZANU PF because they have seen that it is the only party that can truly uplift their lives. We have witnessed several youths benefiting from selling spaces, poultry projects, and seedling initiatives, which have since grown into profitable ventures," Makumbe said.
Makumbe praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his visionary leadership, which he said has spurred massive infrastructure development across the country.
"Under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, we are witnessing unprecedented growth in roads, schools, and healthcare facilities. The Second Republic is committed to ensuring no one is left behind, and the youths are key beneficiaries of these empowerment programmes," he said.
Makumbe urged fence sitters to take advantage of the ruling party’s programmes, emphasising that ZANU PF’s doors remain open.
"Now is the time to join ZANU PF. The opportunities are here, and the leadership is ready to support all those willing to work towards a prosperous Zimbabwe," he said.
A ZANU PF member in Chitungwiza, TafadzwaSithole, told the Harare Post that the ruling Party was gaining momentum in urban areas as more youths realise its developmental agenda.
"Urban youths are slowly but surely recognising that ZANU PF is the only party that carries the people’s hopes. The empowerment projects speak for themselves—where else can a young person access such opportunities?" said Sithole.
Sithole added, "The narrative is changing. The youths who once doubted the Party are now joining in numbers because they see tangible results."
ZANU PF continues to consolidate its support base, with urban youths increasingly becoming a critical demographic in the party’s growth strategy.
