Chamisa campaigns for sabotage

In a bid to stir up public anger and subsequently get a bigger stake in Government, opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa has initiated a plan to sabotage the country taking advantage of public anger against the recently pronounced Monetary Policy Statement (MPS) this week.

According to impeccable inside sources in MDC Alliance, Chamisa has planned to organise demonstrations across the country causing people to revolt against the Government’s pronounced MPS.

Sources told the Harare Post that Chamisa’s plan is to approach and connive with business people who are pro-MDC in the Energy, Retail and Transport Sectors to stop accepting bond notes or electronic transfers as payments to their products but demand United States Dollar only, so as stir emotions from the citizens towards the Government.

Investigations done by the Harare Post have revealed that one of Simbisa Brands subsidiary, TV Sales and Home has dropped its higher purchase facility immediately and its cash prices have shot up by more than 60 percent.

Investigations revealed that before the pronouncement of the MPS early this week by the RBZ Governor, Dr John Mangudya, TV Sales and Home cash prices were affordable and shot up on a daily basis since the pronunciation of the MPS. For instance, a bed was going for $539 and after the MPS it shot up to $689 and today it shot up again to $849 which is a 63 percent increase.

One of the managers within TV Sales and Home who requested to remain anonymous raised concern over the daily skyrocketing of prices which he said would affect their targeted market a lot and therefore affect their business.

“The bulk of our customers are civil servants and in the wake of dropping the higher purchase it will affect our profits as well. With the current prices which are skyrocketing everyday, it means our clients can no longer afford our products,” he said.

Meanwhile, continuous investigations have revealed that after the MPS, most price hikes were experienced in the informal sector more than the formal sector. Other formal sectors increased their prices between 8-10 percent.

In Bulawayo, Pump and Steel Company has advised its clients that all their prices with immediate effect will be in United States Dollars only.

Political analysts have raised concern over the way Chamisa has decided to negotiate for a bigger stake in Government through unscrupulous means that are only targeted at stirring up emotions which in turn will lead to an uproar from the masses
