From November 25 to December 10, 2018, Zimbabwe joins the global campaign to build awareness on violence against women and girls.

Recently the Gender Commission CEO, Virginia Muwanigwa, said that the Gender Commission was raising awareness on sexual harassment and encouraged Zimbabweans to say no to GBV.

“As we commemorate the 16 days of gender based violence, as a Gender Commission we are mandated to work with other stake holders to create the kind of society in which there is justice and equality. We do recognize that we are in a time when there is a lot of violence against our children and other sexes in general.

“What we are doing in these 16 days of gender based violence activism, is echoing the message that says no to gender based violence, looking at the theme this year which is ‘looking at sexual harassment  at the work place’ we are also educating people on what sexual harassment is. We need to ensure that we have an environment at work places in Zimbabwe were men and women feel safe and encouraged to be productive. They should know that if their rights are violated they should be able to get justice,” said Muwaningwa.

The Gender Commission is encouraging all those who feel that their rights have been violated as to our country’s constitution to contact them for assistance as soon as possible.
