Ministry of Women Affairs, Community Small and Medium Enterprise Development is holding a week long Strategic planning workshop where they are set to craft and realign their new mandate with the aspirations of the Vision 2030 as guided by the Transitional Stabilisation programme (TSP).

Speaking to delegates at the Kadoma Ranch Motel recently, Minister of Women Affairs, Community Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Honourable Sithembiso Nyoni highlighted that the Ministry has embraced the national vision of transforming the nation into a middle income economy by 2030 and explained on how the TSP works.

“As Zimbabweans, we have all embraced the national vision of transforming the nation into a middle income economy by 2030. The Transitional Stabilization Programme, October 2018-December 2020 seeks to stabilize the macro-economy and the financial sector and to remove investment bottlenecks,” she said.

Minister Nyoni said that the strategic plan would cover two years and highlighted the importance of planning. She further reiterated President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra on accountability and servant leadership.

“This strategic plan will cover the period January 2019 to December 2020. You will agree with me, I hope, that planning is a critical success factor for any entity, be it an individual or an organization. The quality of your time on the plan builds the groundwork for accountability and results. This week is important for us as a Ministry given that we are the servants of the people,” she said.

She reminded the delegates that they should be guided by the national budget in trying to achieve their objectives.

“The national budget has the main objective, the strengthening of fiscal responsibility and management of government expenditures. Guided by these blueprints, let us all find appropriate spaces to align our mandates towards the achievement of set objectives,” she said.

Speaking at the same event, Secretary of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Ambassador Rudo Chitiga, reiterated Minister Nyoni’s sentiments that the strategic plan should set out parameters and define their place in the TSP as a Ministry.

She also said that the TSP explained the role of SMEs and what the TSP is about and how it leads to job creation.

“The TSP clearly spells out the role of SMEs, the need for social and financial inclusion human development, gender mainstreaming and empowerment of women. All this is leading to job creation for our communities,” she said.

Ambassador Chitiga encouraged the delegates to think and act outside of the box as new opportunities present themselves. She also said that under the new dispensation, emphasis is on participatory development.
