The victims of Cyclone Idai in Chimanimani will be buried at the District Heroes’ Acre, The Harare Post can report.

Sources from Chimanimani revealed to Harare Post that burial would be done without delay as bodies had been lying at the Roman Catholic Church in Ngangu Township for two days.

Brighton Dzakandwa Muchuwa, ZANU-PF Provincial Secretary for Labour and Production said the move to bury victims at the District Heroes’ Acre was unanimously agreed by Chimanimani leadership because the other burial site is inaccessible due to mud.

Muchuwa was not at liberty to reveal the exact figure though it is believed be over 90 for the whole district.

“The figure could possibly rise when we finish ascertaining where the missing are,” said Muchuwa.

He said Ward 15 (Chimanimani Urban) and Ward 21 (Kopa) were most affected wards in the district.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Manicaland Chapter is requesting for various donations for more than 500 households to cover Chimanimani, Chipinge and Mutare.
