MDC demo deferred after an embarrassing flop

The MDC has deferred its planned demonstrations which were supposed to have started today until mid June 2019, the Harare Post can exclusively report.

Highly positioned sources within the MDC told this reporter that the embarrassing flop of the much hyped demonstration was a heavy blow to the party leadership which has resolved to shelve the demo in search of new partners in the execution of the demo.

Sources have revealed that party leader, Nelson Chamisa and his lieutenants have deployed the youths who are intimidating and threatening the business community with vandalism, looting and burning of shops should they fail to comply with their shutdown messages and open their shops.

During a meeting held at Zimbabwe Grounds on 31 May 2019, Highfields East legislator, Eric Murai echoed Chamisa’s remarks of violent protests to unconstitutionally topple the Government.

“The situation is now ripe for our demonstrations to roll. We are just waiting for instruction from Chamisa (Nelson Chamisa).  ED (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) must be removed violently to save the people of Zimbabwe,” said Murai.

Murai echoed the same statements made by Chamisa while addressing delegates in Gweru during the congress where he hinted about violent protests.  He said that after congress “hakurarwi…chatsva! Chatsva! Chatsva! “

Meanwhile, various schools of thoughts have emerged in the party with some calling for the party to consider joining the political dialogue whilst the other camp wants ZCTU to lead the demonstrations to save the party from any backlashes which might emanate from the protests.

According to highly placed sources within the ZCTU, the labour union has accepted the role given to them by the MDC to take a leading role in the protests.

Sources said that ZCTU provincial chapters save for Harare have already held meetings to strategise on the demonstrations plan. Some of the methods agreed upon by the meetings, according to sources, include burning shops, looting, vandalism and decimation of personal properties to force shop owners to support their illegal protests.

Interestingly, like the MDC which is trying to use decoys to run away from accountability, ZCTU intends to use neutral individuals to spearhead the illegal protests.

It has been brought to the attention of this publication that MDC and ZCTU are currently mobilizing funds for the protests to be able to acquire safe houses, lawyers, medication and individual payments as well as identifying leaders for the demos for each district.

A close source revealed that the MDC has approached a former Zimbabwe National Army officer, Witness Musapingura to lead the demo in Chipinge.

The identified leaders have, however, demanded payment first for fear of falling into the trap that others fell into, wherein they were used but never paid as per promise.  Apparently, there are ongoing tussles in MDC over payment of election agents who up to date did not receive their payments.  Those who participated in the January 14-16 protests have not yet been paid their promised allowance in USD.

MDC is planning violent protests to force the Government to a negotiating for a Government of National Unity.  Sources have revealed that MDC backers, mainly the US, have urged the party to pursue that route as it was going to be their only way into Government.
