Zanu PF youths in Cashel, Chimanimani Ward 1, have organised themselves into groups, venturing into chicken growing targeting at least 20 000 birds, the Harare Post can report.

Speaking to this publication in an interview, ZANU-PF, Deputy National Youth Secretary for Science and Technology David Chemusaiziva said they are in talks with chicken giant, Irvine’s Chickens to renovate idle buildings in Cashel Valley and convert them into fowl runs.

“The dilapidating structures can bring employment if the youths get organized and convert them into either fowl runs, pig stys or bean processing structures,” said Chemusaiziva.

Same highlighted that the market for the chickens is readily available.

“We have four boarding schools, with two just close to each other in the same ward, Mutambara and Lydia Chimonyo, St Patricks in Nyanyadzi and Chimanimani Junior Primary to which we can supply our chickens,” he said.

Chemusaiziva said that the above schools are getting their chickens from as far as Mutare.

“We need to create our own employment, we should be innovative, we cannot continue folding our hands and expect Government to do everything for us,” said Chemusaiziva.

He said that President Mnangagwa is on record as saying the youth should be our own employers.

“We should complement the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa whose vision is to transform this country into an upper middle income status by 2030,” said Chemusaiziva.
