Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Deputy Minister, Vagelis Haritatos said he was optimistic that the country will soon reclaim its status of being the bread basket of Africa once the government completes its economic fundamentals it is currently working on.
Posting on his Facebook page yesterday while congratulating the Agricultural Dealers and Manufacturers Association of Zimbabwe (ADMA) for successfully holding their 2019 Agrishow at Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare recently, Deputy Minister Haritatos said his ministry was diligently pushing for an agricultural revolution in the country.
“Our Government is working tirelessly to fix the economy and the agricultural sector included and we will win this battle. We are trying to get the fundamentals right, and once this happens, our economy will boom with agriculture taking its pole position as the backbone of the Zimbabwean economy. I am extremely confident and I know we have extremely bright days ahead of us.
“Our Ministry will not stop for nothing; we are moving forward with speed as we push for an agricultural revolution in our Great Nation,” he said.
Deputy Minister Haritatos said he very was impressed by the 2019 ADMA Agrishow which had an impressive array of modern machinery under exhibition.
“I must say I was extremely impressed and would like to congratulate each and every exhibitor for making this year's event a bigger and better event than ever. With the goal of allowing industry players and farmers to compare products that offer cost-saving innovative advantages and concepts, I truly believe that this year's ADMA Agrishow was an overwhelming success,” he said.
An assortment of machinery, irrigation, storage systems, implements, tractors, combines, cutting edge technology, modern engineering, tyre suppliers, service providers, fertilizer suppliers, chemical suppliers among other products were exhibited by farmers on the Agrishow event which was also graced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
He said he was extremely happy and proud to see that the country has a great deal of technology that has been developed by local, innovative Zimbabweans adding that the country has huge potential and can certainly manufacture a great deal of its own agricultural implements and machinery.
Deputy Minister Haritatos extended an invitation to the ADMA team to take advantage of his office in the Ministry to ensure that they (ADMA) play a pivotal role in the push to bring agriculture back to its rightful position of driving the country`s economy.
