MDC-T Vice President, Obert Gutu has reignited the fight for control of the MDC and its properties after declaring that the fight is not yet over.

Posting on his Twitter handle, Gutu revealed that the MDC-T is waiting for the Supreme Court to hear its appeal before holding its extraordinary congress.

“Some people have been asking, ‘What happened to the MDC-T extraordinary congress?’ We are waiting for the Supreme Court to hear the appeal,” he tweeted.

Gutu issued a warning to those that thought the battle for control of the name was over that there could not be more wrong.

“Anyone who thinks this matter is over is obviously terribly misinformed. It is not over until it is over, we will take it to the wire,” he threatened.

The MDC led by Nelson Chamisa approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court judgment which ruled in Dr Thokozani Khupe’s favour, giving Khupe’s faction the right to use the party name and symbols.

Those who commented on Gutu’s tweet dismissed it as clutching on straws to save his waning political career.

Political analyst who spoke to the Harare Post dismissed Gutu’s statement and highlighted that the moment the MDC-T led by Dr Khupe appointed the party leadership structure, they seized to be part of Chamisa’s MDC.
