Chamisa's structure reconfiguration faces resistance

The MDC Organising Secretary, Amos Chabaya drew the wrath of his party members after ordering the party's provincial executives to dissolve the districts and ward structures while replacing them with Constituency Coordinating Committees (CCC).

The move, which this publication can reveal, is the party leader, Nelson Chamisa's brainchild aimed at imposing his loyalists at grassroots structures as his power wrangle with the party's Vice President, Tendai Biti threatens to reach boiling point.

The structure reconfiguration which is facing resistance will see the CCC only having 10 elected members while the rest would be appointed.

Information gathered by Harare Post reveals that the Manicaland Provincial Executive is questioning the move, highlighting that the party in 2008 garnered 20 seats against Zanu PF's 6 seats with the existing party structures.

Ever since it emerged that the perennial donors and supporters of the MDC, the West are in support of Biti's presidential candidacy in 2023, Chamisa is now in panic mode and imposing reckless decisions without consultations in a bid to consolidate his position.
