Zimbabweans welcome SADC’s anti-sanctions day

Zimbabweans have commended the decision taken by SADC of declaring the 25th of October as a day of expressing the region’s disapproval of the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

Citizens said the sanctions had impacted negatively on the socio-economic recovery of the country.

One netizen Tanaka Chiuseni tweeted that this is a clear message to the United States that Africans are mature enough to solve each other`s problems.

“This is a bold move by S.A.D.C. It sends a clear and unequivocal message to Washington that they have had enough of US interference into African affairs. Africans are mature enough to solve each other`s challenges,” he posted.

Another netizen, Thabi-Joy tweeted that the sanctions have failed to fulfil their motive of regime change which they thought could be influenced by the prolonged suffering of the people due to inhibited socio-economic growth.

“To me sanctions resemble a tool used to inhibit socio-economic growth and possibly prolong suffering which should then result in an uprising which inevitably facilitates regime change! What’s sad is, this method has been tried and tested and had brought no result! Why hold on to it?”

Wellington Balla, another netizen posted that sanctions will go away soon because a minority party like MDC cannot override the 16 African countries.

“It means the sanctions will go away very soon since MDC is nothing compared to 16 African countries,” he tweeted.

The MDC and its allies including the United States recently incited Zimbabweans to demonstrate citing the living conditions which they said have deteriorated. The US wanted to use that as a reason to topple the Government in power.

However, the demonstrations were not successful as many Zimbabweans ignored it indicating that they are tired of being used.
