Zimbabwe improving investment processes

President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that Zimbabwe was working on improving the investment processes and conditions across all sectors for the country to be investor friendly and for smooth economic transformation.

Addressing delegates at the Tokyo International Conference on Africa Development (TICAD7) in Tokyo, Japan today, President Mnangagwa highlighted that Zimbabwe will make sure that investment information is under one roof and that Zimbabwe has liberalised investment conditions.

“The Zimbabwe Investment and development agency will ensure that all investment information is available and processed under one roof. Specialised commercial council will also be established. Under my administration, Zimbabwe has liberalised the investment conditions by repealing the indigenisation and economic empowerment act.

“This now allows for greater investment and private sector participation across all sectors which should in turn further accelerate our economic transformation and industrialisation,” he said.

President Mnangagwa went on to say that his administration, guided by the Zimbabwe is open for business policy, is determined to continue implementing reforms aimed at making Zimbabwe a safe, favourable and competitive investment destination. He said Zimbabwe is promoting private sector led investments in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, energy infrastructure, ICT and services sectors.

President Mnangagwa said that his Government would always stay committed to the TICAD process and will continue to value the private sector as it plays an important part in the development of Zimbabwe.

“Our participation in this important conference re-affirms my Government’s continued commitment to the TICAD process. The private sector is a valuable partner in sustainable economic development in our quest to transform, modernise and industrialise our economies.

“My Government has put in place comprehensive reforms to accelerate the economic development agenda. We have embarked on the ease of doing business reforms which seek to enhance the country’s environment,” he said.

President Mnangagwa applauded the great achievements which Japan continues to make in Science, Technology and innovation saying that Zimbabwe stands ready to increase cooperation with Japan in these and other spheres.
