President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to address a State of the Nation Address (SONA) early next month in which the President is said will speak on the challenges the nation is facing.

On 1 October 2019, President Mnangagwa will deliver the SONA, and is also expected to officially open the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament, an Official from the Parliament said.

The Parliament Official also highlighted that the SONA shall be addressed simultaneously with the official opening of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament, which will enable the President to give his suggestions to the challenges that the nation is currently facing. The President will also highlight key achievement areas that have been a success after being implemented by Government.

As the nation looks forward for the opening of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of Zimbabwe, the First Session as it closes, had covered ground after concluding presentation of 15 bills to parliament.

The President remains focussed on ensuring the nation re-engages the international community to lure investment into the country. Given the need for the country to no longer be in isolation, the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament legislative thrust should remain focussed on making Zimbabwe an investment destination.
