His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zanu PF party leadership to strengthen their structures in preparation for the 2023 harmonised elections.

Speaking at the Zanu PF National Youth League Second National Assembly Meeting of 2019 in Harare today, President Emmerson Mnangagwa applauded the party for its resounding victory in all the by-elections that have been held in the country so far.

President Mnangagwa encouraged Zanu PF youths to target and mobilise first time voters ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections. He stressed on the importance of innovation and positive information dissemination by the party.

The President vowed to support youth projects and assured the youths that they would be included in the country’s decision making processes. To this end he assured them that they would be allocated 10 seats in parliament.

“As Zanu PF Government we have decided to add 10 more seats to give to the youth in parliament,” said the President.

Commenting on the recently held anti-sanctions march, President Mnangagwa commended the support the country received from SADC member states in calling for the removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe.

He castigated the opposition fraternity for calling for the extension of sanctions on the country. President Mnangagwa reiterated that the ordinary Zimbabweans were suffering from the effects of sanctions, hence it was high time the country united in calling for the removal of sanctions.

President Mnangagwa said the introduction of the new currency will lead to the success, modernisation and growth of Zimbabwe.

“No country can succeed, grow or modernise without its own currency. Under the second republic we want to be a sovereign state with its own currency. In June we managed to move from a multi-currency to a mono-currency system, which is important in economic transition.

“After the imposition of sanctions the country’s economy collapsed, but I am happy the process of economic transition is stabilising,” said the President.

President Mnangagwa also applauded Doctors who are continuing with their duties despite the ongoing strike. He also said Government would find a way of cushioning them as a way of appreciation.

The President castigated some Doctors who are being paid by ‘foreign rogue elements’ to encourage and continue with the strikes. President Mnangagwa went on to encourage dialogue between Government and Doctors.
