Opposition is just weak, ZAPU admits

A Matabeleland based opposition political party ZAPU reaffirmed that the opposition fraternity in Zimbabwe is too weak to bring any meaningful change which they claim.

Commenting on the outcome of the by-elections held this Saturday in Hwedza Ward 4, Tsholotsho Ward 16 and Tsholotsho Ward 20, where ZANU PF won resoundingly, ZAPU Bulawayo Provincial member, Nkosinathi Nkiwane told this publication that the opposition political parties in Zimbabwe do not have the capacity to remove ZANU PF from power.

“Whilst ZANU PF is busy mobilising on the ground, the opposition fraternity is busy calling for demonstrations to the already agitated electorate.

“Our leaders seem to be clueless on any strategic plans to win elections in as much as resources remain a major challenge. Apparently the major opposition parties such as MDC and ZAPU among others are busy with internal fights, scratching each other on positions and giving little attention to the electorate,” lamented Nkiwane.

Another ZAPU member who preferred anonymity revealed to this publication that, their politics was visible on social media without any meaningful visibility on the ground.

“Rural folks will ask our candidates what they have to offer in order for them to be voted for. Absolutely we have nothing to offer them, hence we will continue to lose and cry foul that elections were rigged,” said the ZAPU member.

He added that ZANU PF was gradually gaining momentum in the region which should worry ZAPU.
