Zanu PF fulfilling promises - MDC acknowledges

Disgruntled MDC members commended efforts by Zanu PF to deliver on its electoral promises that have seen the revolutionary party remaining a party of first choice to the rural electorate.

Commenting on a provincial Whatsapp group chat, an MDC member indicated that there was need to counter efforts being channelled by Zanu PF towards the rural electorate as they appeared to be garnering more support.

“We need to understand that Zanu PF is in Government, and is doing everything in its power to deliver the promises it made in its 2018 campaigning manifesto.

“They capitalise on the rural electorate and they promised them food, transport, agricultural inputs, education and health facilities, among others. Now we see them dishing out agricultural inputs and ZUPCO buses are being extended to them. To an ordinary voter, Zanu PF can be applauded for this.”

Another MDC member added on the same platform that, to an ordinary voter Zanu PF is the ‘Messiah’ of the rural electorate at the expense of the MDC.

“We have seen hundreds of Zanu PF members benefiting from agricultural inputs in Chiredzi this weekend, and most likely they will benefit from land launched under Tongaat Hulett, yet we won a number of seats in Chiredzi,” he said.

Another MDC member who identifies himself as ‘The Legend’ noted that MDC has a long way to go in offering promises to the ordinary voter. He expressed concern over the dismal performance of the MDC in the recently by-elections in Hwedza Ward 4, Tsholotsho ward 16 and Tsholotsho ward 20 where Zanu PF won resoundingly.

Zanu PF has been scooping the majority of seats in the rural areas in the past elections whilst MDC dominated in the urban areas.
