Minister Moyo hands over Airport shuttle vehicles

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Sibusiso Moyo yesterday handed-over a fleet of vehicles to Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials in Harare, announcing that the vehicles would be stationed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe (RGM), Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo and Victoria Falls International Airports, to shuttle arriving VIPs, Investors and Traders from and to these ports of entry at all times.

Speaking during the hand-over of the vehicles which include a Toyota Quantum minibus, Toyota corolla and a Toyota Prado, Minister Moyo said his Ministry was tasked by Government to run Airport protocols, encouraging vehicle users to have total discipline.

“We were given a task to run airport protocols by Government hence we bought these vehicles. One will go to Harare, one to Bulawayo and the other one to Victoria Falls so that if any VIP arrives he or she will be taken by these vehicles with a protocol officer, it`s primarily a shuttle between the airport and the city centre,” he said.

Minister Moyo said the shuttle service was only meant for VIPs especially people like investors who will be picked from airports and transported to hotels and other places. “We will also make their programmes and at the end of their stay we do exit interviews before they leave,” he said.

Important visitors like tourists and some investors were relying mostly on private owned taxis based at the airports who charge exorbitant fares in foreign currency. This free service will go a long way to cushion the VIPs and other important visitors.
