The US100 million new parliament building in Mt Hampden, Harare is almost complete, the China Aid Zimbabwe New Parliament Building Project has said.

On its twitter handle, China Aid Zimbabwe New Parliament Building Project said it was happy with the progress it was making as it was now working on the roof level.

“We are happy to announce that we are now working on the roof of the new parliament building. We are making good progress each day,” China Aid.

“Did you know that the massive six-storey parliamentary building being built in Mt Hampden through a US$100 million China Aid free grant; will have a 1000-seater banquet room, a 350-seater House of Assembly Chamber and a 350-seater Senate Chamber,” said China Aid.

Zimbabwe is going to have economic benefits from the new parliament building. The Construction of the new parliament building should result in the development of a new town around Mt Hampden which should lead to decongestion of Harare CBD. The building is expected to attract Government offices, businesses, banks, shopping malls and residential areas.

The Harare Post has learnt that Zimbabwe continues to cooperate with China as the two countries have a history of relationship dating back to the days of the liberation struggle. China continues to assist Zimbabwe through investing in the country’s mining, agriculture, telecommunications, energy and manufacturing sectors.
