Jonathan Moyo divides MDC

Former Sunday Mail editor, Edmund Kudzayi’s revelations that Professor Jonathan Moyo funded MDC’s media campaign during the 2018 campaign period has incensed part of the MDC supporters who feel the former ZANU PF stalwart is on a mission to destroy the MDC from within.

MDC activist and fierce Government critic, Freeman Chari initiated the debate on Twitter, questioning why the MDC is quick to embrace ZANU PF rejects.

“People are celebrating that somebody made some rudimentary advert but they forget that we have one TV station because of the works of the same folks. They fought against liberalization of airwaves. You cannot defecate in a room and expect us to celebrate when u spray air-freshener.

“You embraced to Jonathan Moyo in 2005 and he bit you back in 2008. You embraced Mutsvangwa and Matemadanda and in 2017 they farted on your faces. Now you're opening your mouths for Tsenengamu,” he said.

Other MDC supporters commenting in various parties WhatsApp group argued that Prof Moyo and Patrick Zhuwawo have aligned themselves with the MDC because the National Patriotic Front (NPF) was a monumental failure and seeking political refugee within the MDC.

One Tendai Tichaona said, “Prof Moyo is a schemer, the only way he seems to be supporting us (MDC) is because he has an angle. He wants to remain politically relevant seeing that the NPF project failed.

“If the NPF had gotten off the ground he would not have cared one bit for MDC. Now we hear that he is canvassing to be coopted in the MDC hierarchy. We cannot stand by and allow this to happen, Jonathan Moyo cares for no one but himself,” he said.
