National Youth Day to be celebrated in all the provinces

Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Honourable Dr. Kirsty Coventry has said that the commemorations of the National Youth Day will be held tomorrow at designated youth interaction centres in all the provinces across the country.  She said this while addressing a press conference in Harare today.

Minister Coventry revealed that Government would unveil empowerment programs for youths during the commemorations.

"The commemorations which will be held at designated youth interact centres are aimed at among other things, to unveil Government's empowerment programs for youths, provide a platform for youths to show case their various talents and products and to provide an opportunity for the youths in art and sport to interact with established personalities and to network," she said.

The Minister highlighted the activities that will take place on the day which includes, sporting performances, youth exhibitions, mentors' booth for mentorship and career guidance to young entrepreneurs.

The exhibitions will also accommodate important stakeholders and service providers such as Government Departments, Development Partners and Civic Society Organisations.

Government embraces this day as it provides an opportunity to share with the youths the successes and future programs of the New Dispensation.  National Youth Day falls on 21 February every year and was set aside by Government in 2017 in order to celebrate the contributions by the youths to the political and socio-economic development of the nation dating back to the days of the liberation struggle.

In Harare the celebrations will take place at Mufakose interaction centre.
