MDC group accuses Chamisa of trashing party constitution

INTERNAL strife within the main opposition MDC Alliance is escalating following allegations that its leader Nelson Chamisa and his supporters violated sections of their own constitution in a bid to cling to power.

An MDC pressure group known as, In Defence of Morgan Tsvangirai Legacy (DMTL) which rebranded to Defending Constitutionalism in Zimbabwe (DCZ) has alleged that Chamisa and his lieutenants are trashing the party’s constitution.

Documents in possession of this publication reveal that Chamisa is making unilateral decisions intentionally disrespecting the laid down party constitution.

Mr Eddin Dzambara, DCZ Chairman wrote, “MDC Alliance has since abandoned the use of its constitution and operates in a vacuum. If ever the new constitution exists, then it was not debated upon and was born out of imposition. No one can disband the constitution of a party established by various stakeholders.”

Dzambara went on to challenge those that are still working with Chamisa inside the Alliance to follow party procedures and the will of the people as enshrined in the MDC-T Constitution.”
