MDC Bulawayo structures cross floor to Khupe

By Staff Reporter

The MDC Bulawayo structures have reportedly ditched Nelson Chamisa in favour of the newly reinstated Acting President of that party,Thokozani Khupe, saying that Chamisa is now a spent force who has no political future.

In a leaked WhatsApp chat between members of the MDC Bulawayo executive, it was clear that most of the members are now fed up with Chamisa and they are now crossing the floor to Khupe whom they have described as the hope of that party.

In the leaked chat, Ward four councillor, Silas Chigora Ndlovu, described Chamisa as a liar who should not be given the presidency of that party.

“Our president (Chamisa) is a big liar. He lied about the Alliance agreement and also that Harvest House was under the control of the Alliance.  He lied about everything and now the truth has been exposed.

Ndlovu who was chatting with a lady he referred to as ‘mainini, equated Chamisa to a heap of dirt, misleading the MDC supporters into believing that he was the real deal.

Mainini hatingarambe tichisapota marara aChamisa. It’s better to go to Khupe as she is mature and educated kwete mpfanha uyu asina chaanoziva (We can’t continue supporting Chamisa. It’s better to support Khupe who is mature and educated not Chamisa who is politically immature).

Ndlovu continued telling “mainini” that she needs to be politically educated because if she continues to cling on Chamisa, her political life will be as good as over.

“Aaa hamusati maziva politics mainini. (You are yet to know politics). If you continue clinging on Chamisa you will regret because he no longer has supporters except the few varikudya naye (who are benefiting from him).

Councillor Ndlovu in that same WhatsApp Chat said many MDC Alliance legislators, including Nketa legislator, Phelela Masuku, have also crossed the floor to Khupe to ensure their political survival.

Masuku is believed to have admitted that he can’t continue supporting Chamisa because it’s tantamount to risking his political career. He told people in his constituency that he crossed the floor to Khupe to serve the interests of the electorate as well as that of his family because if he was to be recalled from parliament, Chamisa would not pay him a salary.

The leaked Chat also revealed that most  Bulawayo  MDC supporters are now seeing the future of that party with Khupe not Chamisa.

“Ndimi matosara mainini (You are left alone), everyone is now with Khupe. Chamisa is a big joke and only fools will support him,” said Councillor Ndlovu.

The recent Supreme Court judgement which ruled that Chamisa was an illegitimate leader of the MDC has caused chaos and disorder in that party as more people are now aligning themselves with Khupe who has been given the mandate to lead the party on an acting capacity until a congress is held.

Khupe has already recalled four legislators from the august house and this has sent shivers on councillors and legislators who are now crossing the floor to Khupe in order to save their political careers.
