The violent MDC Alliance linked Vanguard, is planning to unleash a reign of terror on all perceived Nelson Chamisa rivals and torch the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House (MRT House) as factional fights in the MDC reach fever pitch levels, the Harare Post has learnt.

A contact who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity, said the knight of long knives is looming in the MDC as Chamisa and his group of loyalists were irked by the recent court judgement which ruled that Chamisa was an illegitimate leader.  The leader of the opposition outfit is now planning to retaliate by violently attacking anyone who is opposed to his leadership.

“The Vanguard which is currently under the leadership of Amos Chibaya has been tasked with violently attacking all of Chamisa’s foes. The targets include Mwonzora Douglass, Komichi Morgan and Mashakada Tapiwa.  These people are the ones who are being accused of fighting Wamba Chamisa.  The Vanguard has also been instructed to set Harvest House (MRT House) on fire so that the Thokozani Khupe faction will have no political home,” said the contact.

The same contact told this publication that last Saturday, a meeting was convened in Harare, which was chaired by Chibaya, to find ways of diluting the influence of the Khupe faction which was slowly gaining sympathy among MDC supporters.

The meeting was also graced by Shakespeare Mkoyi, Levy Chiminya, Eric Murai, Chimbaira Mavhunga and Tendai Munhamo.  Other attendees were Tendayi Virimayia and Trevor Phiri.

Chibaya revealed in that meeting that Chamisa was slowly losing grip of that party and that action should be taken soon so that they save Chamisa from political oblivion.

It was then agreed in the meeting that the Vanguard, the MDC militia group, should be roped in to terrorise all Chamisa opponents.

In that same meeting, Mkoyi said he will use his influence as the former leader of the Vanguard to rally them to defend Chamisa, even if it means spilling blood.

It was resolved in that meeting that Mwonzora, Komichi, Mashakada and one Sheli Mlambo should be the first targets of the terror attack.

The MRT House which was recently occupied by the Khupe faction is also targeted for  attack.

According to the contact, Chibaya promised some cash to all youths who will participate in the operation to attack all Chamisa opponents.

Chibaya told the attendees that the MDC Alliance external Branches have pledged to assist by giving money in support of any operation that is undertaken to keep Chamisa at the helm of that party. Chibaya promised that all those who will undertake violent acts against Chamisa’s foes will be paid handsomely.

Recently social media was awash with messages purportedly from the MDC Alliance urging party supporters to attack and kill Mwonzora when they see him.  The message reads, “Mwonzora must die. Enough is enough. If you see Mwonzora in your area, please kill him”

The MDC is embroiled in factional fights pitting Chamisa and Khupe. Recently the High Court ruled that Chamisa’s ascendancy to the helm of the MDC was shrewd in violation of that party’s constitution hence it was illegal.
