Government to commence public hearings

Government will soon be commencing its Parliament of Zimbabwe public hearings this June 2020, the Harare Post can report.

In a statement the Parliament of Zimbabwe said it will be conducting public hearings for the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment NO.2 Bill-H.B.23, 2019.

“The Portfolio Committee on Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs will hold public hearings on the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment No.2 Bill (H.B. 23, 2019) from the 15th to the 19th of June 2020. The teams will cover various places in Zimbabwe.

“The public, interested groups and organizations are invited to attend these consultations. Written submissions and correspondences are welcome,” read the statement.

Harare Post has learnt, Team A will be visiting Chinhoyi, Gokwe, Sanyati, Ngezi-Zimplats from, 15 to 18 June 2020.

Team B will be visiting Gweru, Mberengwa, Chivi and Masvingo from, 15 to 18 June 2020.

Team C will be visiting Lupane, Gwanda, Plumtree, Bulawayo and Mbembesi from, 15 to 18 June 2020.

Team D will cover Mt Darwin, Marondera, Mutare, Rusape and Harare from 15 to 19 June 2020.

Recently Government had suspended public hearings following the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently measures have been put in place to conduct the public hearings under strict guide lines that should help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
