Sikhala continues to incite public in hiding

Job Sikhala continues to incite the public following the failure of MDC-A planned demonstrations on 31 July 2020, owing to non-involvement of participants.

Self-exiled Professor Jonathan Moyo has been circulating posts by MDC-A vice national chairman Job Sikhala on his twitter handle in clear support of unlawful and unsanctioned demonstrations in the country.

The tweet which was titled ‘Notice to the people of Zimbabwe’ encouraged people to take action against Government from 10 to 15 August 2020.

“From Monday the 3rd of August, we urge all of you to have an opportunity to stock food. This is called upon because we need to speak more loudly for the entire week starting Monday the 10th of August to the 15th. That will be the week of action. This time it won’t be a one day event. It will be a week of expression against corruption and looting. This time we are speaking against gross human rights abuses against us...,” read part of the notice.

Given the fact that MDC-A leader Nelson Chamisa and MDC-A secretary general Charlton Hwende are in self-isolation for suspected Covid19 infections and Job Sikhala is in hiding, at a period when the country is experiencing a rise in Covid-19 infections, they should desist from encouraging the gullible to expose themselves to Covid-19. MDC-A leadership appears to be showing ignorance of how serious the disease is.

Government will not stand aside and watch as people are misled by cunning politicians.  It will continue to ensure that the lockdown and curfew measures are adhered to during this difficult time as the nation tries to recover, the Harare Post has learnt.
