President Emmerson Mnangagwa took stock of the achievements he has scored since his inauguration two years ago.

Posting on his Facebook page today, President Mnangagwa wrote, “Zimbabwe is not without its challenges. But rest assured that I and this Government are fully committed to improving our great nation for the benefit of all Zimbabweans. Thank you all and may God bless Zimbabwe.”

President Mnangagwa stated that when he was inaugurated two years ago, he vowed to serve Zimbabwe and its people so that the nation would move towards a more prosperous future. Too to his word, the two years under his stewardship, the country has witnessed major achievements, which are highlighted below.

Under his leadership, the New Dispensation reintroduced the Zimbabwe Dollar after ten years of dollarization and relying on foreign currency. This development has made the lives of citizens easier as the people can now access the local currency.

Under his administration, the former white commercial farmers whose farms were acquired during the Fast Track Land Redistribution programme were compensated. The US$3.5 billion compensation ended years of disputes with these former white farmers.

Zimbabwe was ranked third in Africa on budget transparency by the Open Budget Survey. Zimbabwe had a transparency score of 49 out of 100, and came third after South Africa, which had a score of 87 and Namibia 51.

President Mnangagwa said that his Government implemented a new school curriculum, so that every student is accommodated.

When it comes to infrastructure development many roads have been constructed and some are under construction. For example, the Chiredzi-Tanganda Road has been completed, whilst the Makuti-Chirundu and the Karoi-Binga roads are currently under construction.

The agriculture sector has not been left behind, as it is the backbone of our economy. On that front, the President said that 1.8 million farmers were trained on conservation agriculture, popularly known as Pfumvudza farming. Pfumvudza farming is being promoted by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement to ensure household and national food self-sufficiency.

Yesterday, President Mnangagwa launched the 2020-2025 Agriculture and Food systems transformation strategy, which seeks to achieve a US$8.2 billion Agriculture Economy by 2025.

The President also outlined the dam projects that are under construction; among them are Causeway, Gwayi-Shangani and Marovanyati.

The achievements made by President Mnangagwa are in pursuit of Vision 2030 of being an Upper-Middle Income Economy by 2030.

One netizen commended the achievements by President Mnangagwa and his Administration.

“As a farmer and extension worker, I am constantly on the ground and I can tell you comrade your programmes like Command agriculture, Smart agriculture, Champion Farmer and Pfumvudza are doing wonders here in Mashonaland Central, Shamva and Bindura. Thank you,” he said.

On his inauguration in 2018, President Mnangagwa promised to serve Zimbabwe and its citizens. He said the new dispensation would adopt servant leadership as its preferred leadership style and to date that has been followed to the letter.
