Ngarivhume’s call for protests finds no takers

Leader of Transform Zimbabwe’s spirited attempts to rope in Zimbabweans in the #June12protests currently happening in Nigeria have been watered down by progressive Zimbabweans who have sworn to protect progressive developments achieved since the New Dispensation took over in 2017.

Writing on Twitter, over-ambitious Ngarivhume said, “It looks like the news of the #June12protests is gaining momentum. We have a similar cause and should join with our brothers and sisters in calling for a new kind of Pan-Africanism where citizens unite together.”

Responding to Ngarivhume’s tweet, netizen Cosmas Muzanenhamo said, “We have been there, done that and have come to the conclusion that you opposition leaders like to use people for your own political mileage and then dump them.  Currently Zimbabwe is in a peaceable state and progressing at a steady rate. Let’s not stir murky waters.

Cuthbert Tawagwisa added saying, “Did you notify the police? Ever since you were in remand and got released, I lost my trust in you Jacob. My instinct tells me that you are being used to test waters.”

Commenting to this publication on Ngarivhume’s shenanigans, one member of the MDC Alliance who chose to remain anonymous revealed that Ngarivhume was trying to take the limelight from Nelson Chamisa who is currently boggled down by fissures within the MDC Alliance.

“Ngarivhume is taking things a little too far for spotlight, I don’t think Zimbabwe is there yet.  Everyone knows that Ngarivhume is secretly trying to position himself as a better leader as compared to Chamisa. He wants to appear bold and aggressive. That has never won any votes for us the opposition, he should ask Morgan Tsvangirai.

“Yes it’s true that there are fissures in the MDC Alliance and many people are leaving because they have lost confidence in the leadership.  Co-vice presidents Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube and Job Sikhala are all vying for the ouster of Chamisa as the leader of the party,” said the MDC Alliance member.

This publication also managed to speak to some business people and workers on how they felt about adopting the #June12protests. They expressed dismay that a Zimbabwean would suggest that.

“That shows Ngarivhume is not a leader. He is after driving his own agenda and doesn’t care about the people.  Every time protests occur, we have lost business; property and infrastructure have been destroyed not to mention loss of life. The problem with these opposition leaders is that they have never been affected first hand.  This protest must never see the light of day,” said Dadirai Mapfumo a shop owner in the CBD.

Ngarivhume has been touted as a possible replacement for Nelson Chamisa who has since lost favour with the MDC Alliance benefactors. His clean-up campaigns have been viewed as a means to enhance his presidential profile. Howeveer, Ngarivhume has denied that he harbours any ambitions to lead the opposition.
