Chamisa tells Chibaya to shape up or ship out

A well placed source within the MDC-Alliance National Standing Committee has revealed that the MDC-Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa recently told National Organising Secretary Amos Chibaya to shape up or ship out and described him as a dysfunctional office holder at a meeting held in Harare this week.

Chamisa accused Chibaya of incompetence over failure to rein-in party employee and well known Kensington cabalist, National Organising Department Director, Farai Chikobvu, who has been meddling in party politics. Same also laid into Chibaya over failure to organise a National Youth Assembly Management meeting held in Masvingo which resulted in violent factional confrontations sometime in May 2021.

According to information received by this publication, Chamisa also accused Chibaya of failure to organise the shambolic diaspora structures in the UK, South Africa, United States of America and Canada, where embezzlement of party funds is rampant and party structures are not properly constituted and coordinated.

Revelations are that Chamisa alleged he had received information that ZANU-PF was working hard to divide and win over the five MDC-A strongholds of Harare, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Masvingo and Bulawayo.

Chamisa also highlighted that the National Organising Department was the most infiltrated department and told Chibaya to relinquish the position if he was failing to execute his mandate. “Kana wazvitadza taura kuti wazvitadza (if you have failed tell us that you have failed),” an agitated Chamisa told Chibaya.

He also fired a salvo at the Kensington cabal alleging that the cabalists were luring members to their faction promising them influential positions. He admitted that the MDC-A would lose the 2023 election and that he would disband all ‘compromised’ provincial structures and replace rogue provincial members with his allies.

“In a show of dictatorial tendencies Chamisa indicated that he would personally approve 2023 election candidates, a development which is likely to cause discontent at the grassroots” the source added.

The MDC A has been severely dogged by factionalism with a group of erstwhile close confidants ganging up against Chamisa. The group, code-named Kensington or Maruva cabal, feels that Chamisa is side-lining them in favour of the Johnny-come-lately.
