The people of Mt Darwin have applauded Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairperson, Cde Kazembe Kazembe for spearheading development in the district and the entire province.

The applause came after Cde Kazembe assisted Mt Darwin District Hospital to renovate the mortuary that had been dysfunctional for the past four years. The Provincial Chairman bought the compressors and other materials needed for the renovations, much to the delight of the residents of the remote district.

People who spoke to this publication applauded the Provincial Chairperson for focusing more on development than politics, which is in line with President Mnangagwa’s thrust.

“I want to thank the Chairperson (Kazembe) for the renovations of the mortuary. This came as a relief to the people of Mt Darwin as we had nowhere to put our dead relatives. The mortuary had been dysfunctional for the past four years. The gesture showed us that the Party has its people at heart as it did not take Cde Kazembe much time to assist with the renovations when he was told of our plight some two months ago.

“To some people, the renovation of the mortuary might seem insignificant but it is important to us the people of Mt Darwin who had been facing the trauma of burying decomposing bodies of our relatives,” said one Mai Chireshe.

Mt Darwin District Coordination Committee Chairperson, Cde Cleotous Ranganai Chiminyu also applauded Cde Kazembe for assisting with some goodies and money some families in Chatumbama Village, Ward 24 whose houses were burnt by veld fires last week.

“We informed Cde Kazembe as the Provincial Chairperson that some families had their houses burnt by veld fire. Today (yesterday), Cde Kazembe came with blankets and cement to give the affected families, he also gave them some money to start income generating projects and to buy uniforms for school going children. He also pledged 4 000 counter books for the children at Matope Primary School to lift the burden from parents,” said Cde Chiminyu.

When called by this publication, Cde Kazembe said he was a foot solider for President Mnangagwa and his duty was to implement the President’s developmental policies.

“Yes, I did all those things (renovation of mortuary and donating to fire victims) but it was not for the media. Whatever we do as ZANU PF officials, we do it to uplift people’s lives and the glory and applause should go to President Mnangagwa and not me. I am just a foot soldier of the President,” said Cde Kazembe.

Government has been spearheading various developmental activities in Mt Darwin District. The construction of Semwa Dam, Karanda Bridge and the tarring of Karanda road are some of the developments being undertaken by Government in the district.
