MDC-A to ‘use’ female party candidates

Staff Writer

The MDC-A is seeking to manipulate its female candidates into campaigning and drawing in female voters for the party ahead of the upcoming 2023 elections by flagging a 50-50 gender campaign.

Contact in the distressed party’s organizing committee revealed that the shrewd party was hoping to tap into female electorate by having female candidates on the forefront, only to later on dispose them for their preferred choices.

“Realizing a brewing revolt from other females in the party over favoritism, the party leadership thought it best to contain it by feigning concern over gender disparities within the party and country.

“This is not the first time that the leadership has sort to manipulate woman for their own political mileage. Khupe is testimony on how the tables turned after she failed to deliver the anticipated Matebeleland voters, eventually leading to her being booted out,” he said.

The major concern was that only female candidates close to Chamisa were being placed on positions of power, leading to disgruntlement with other females in the party detesting leadership.

The MDC-A was then said to have moved in to contain the situation by enlisting help from their inactive gender task force which had not done anything tangible since its inception save for parroting about a 50-50 representation in 2023.

Unknown to many, Secretary General, Charlton Hwende rushed to his twitter handle to post and invite people on a discussion on how to reach 50% women candidates in 2023 whereby he and the party’s vice president, Lynette Karen Kore are set to chair.

MDC-A activist and sympathizer, Alex Magaisa also rocked twitter streets, cheerleading and lining up women purported to be ‘leading and supporting the people’s movement’ in an effort to feign and prop up the party’s females.

In an obvious effort to bank in on female voters, Magaisa listed the likes of Joana Mamombe, Fadzayi Mahere, Duchess Talitha, Chihera Stacey and Dark Force Girl, among others as women championing the movement’s cause.

The MDC A in the past had a reputation of manipulating its female party members, only to dump them when they have served their purpose, and this is no exception. In terms of gender equality, the MDC A has been criticized for offering nothing different from what the ruling party has already implemented, hence nothing expected to come out of the gender task force.
