Chamisa reconfigures secretariat

….as plans are afoot to launch a new political party

Embattled MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has reconfigured his party’s secretariat as plans are at an advanced stage to launch a new political outfit ahead of the impending by-elections.

A source who spoke to this publication said Chamisa had resolved not to continue fighting for a party name with MDC T leader, Douglas Mwonzora and has chosen to rebrand. According to the source, the reconfiguration of that party’s secretariat is the first step in the formation of a new political party that will see some party bigwigs falling by the way side.

The same source said that Chamisa was fed up with the machinations of the rival Maruva Cabal that wants to wrestle power from him and he has resolved to clip wings of the faction’s leaders. The same source said that the reconfiguration of the party’s secretariat would see roles of the MDC Alliance secretary general, Charlton Hwende, being assumed by the Chief of Staff, Trust Mamombe, a move that will leave Hwende a mere figurehead.

“The reconfiguration of the party’s secretariat is Chamisa’s direct response to the machinations of the Maruva Cabal to dethrone him. The new reconfigured secretariat is a reflection of Chamisa’s loyalists as he has purged all people of questionable loyalty from positions of authority. He reconfigured the secretariat without consulting with his National Standing Committee (NSC) to show his rivals that he was still the boss,” said the source.

The same source added that Chamisa was going to reverse all appointments that were done by either Hwende or organising secretary, Amos Chibaya as he wants every structure of the party to be represented by his loyalists.

In the new reconfigured secretariat structure gleaned by this publication, Wisdom Mgagare is now the Director National Organising Department while Godfrey Koster was appointed to work in the national chairman’s office, purportedly to monitor Thabitha Khumalo.

Edward Gudhe was appointed Head of Security while Thamsanga Dangazela is now the deputy chief of staff for monitoring. Farai Chinobva, former director of the national organising department, is now responsible for public affairs.

Other members of the secretariat are Charles Madhiwa, Michael Mukashi, Brilliant Dube, Kudakwashe Matibiri, Desmond Ncube, Mike Mataruka, and Desmond Ncube.

In a subtle social media post recently, Chamisa hinted the expulsion of some MDC Alliance bigwigs whom he described as snakes that should be crushed.

“I generally dislike snakes. Snakes are poisonous and venomous and I’m determined to crush the head of any snake that absolutely and completely,” said Chamisa.

Chamisa is currently in a fix following plans by some of his members to dethrone him as MDC Alliance leader following allegations that he is  politically naïve.
