The ZANU PF Youth League has applauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision for youth empowerment which resonates with his proclamation of 2022 as the year of growth.

Speaking during a press conference at ZANU PF Headquarters yesterday, Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tendai Chirau, revered President Mnangagwa’s stance of allowing youths to take up positions of influence in the Party.

“We are happy that some of our Comrades (Cdes) also made it in different positions in varying capacities in the Provinces, for example Evelyn Mpofu managed to be the Vice Chairperson for Matabeleland South, Cde Washington Nkomo also made it to become the Political Commissar for Matabeleland south; Brian Munyoro who was former Chairperson for Masvingo, and DDC Chairman for Gutu was coming from youth league but now he is the Political Commissar for Masvingo Province and Cde Bodza who was the Provincial Chairperson for Manicaland Province but right now he is the Vice Chairperson for Manicaland Province.

“This is a clear indication that the party allows young people to thrive, and we are elated that His Excellency has created this platform and this is the first time this has happened within the party at this magnitude, and it’s because the New Dispensation has given a platform for young people to thrive,” said Chirau.

Chirau, further indicated that President Mnangagwa’s empowerment support is inclusive as it covers political, economic and social empowerment. Further pledging the youth league’s unwavering support for His Excellency in the forthcoming 2023 Harmonised General Elections. He said “We had a number of economic empowerment initiatives, spearheaded  by the Youth League to our Principal, His Excellency the President.  One of the key projects that was undertaken over the past week was the Heifer Parcel Scheme.  We are happy that the president recognises the needs of the young people and we are happy that their lives are going to be transformed through this initiative.  His Excellency mentioned that it is the year of growth and we are going to focus on mobilisation, productivity and make sure that our structures are there to defend the gains of the revolution,” he said

He added saying, “So we are happy that this meeting we are going to make sure that we are clear on issues to do with empowerment, mobilisation issues to do with undoubted support for His Excellency as the youth league we have agreed that we are already in the campaign mode, 2023 our sole Presidential candidate is His Excellency ED Mnangagwa.”

Meanwhile, Chirau rubbished as untrue the misinformation that was being peddled across the social media that ZANU PF panicked at the colours that some political parties introduced.

“It is not true, the colours that we use as a revolutionary party are the colours of our flag, we have four colours that we have used, and we have used them since 1980.  So as a party we will continue using them,” concluded Chirau.
