President and ZANU  First Secretary, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has told Zimbabweans that they have a chance to help in transforming the country by overwhelmingly voting for the ruling Party in the by elections slated for 26 March this year.

Speaking at the ZANU PF star rally at Epworth High School in Epworth today, President Mnangagwa castigated the urban council that are dominated by the opposition for failing to provide proper and satisfactory services to the electorate.

“Right now if you look at Harare, we have been at the hands of the MDC for about 20 years. Litter is not being removed, sewage is flowing everywhere, yet they continue saying CCC. Now we have the power to remove them. This does not require much; just your X on ZANU PF will help in removing the opposition from our councils. Most of Harare councilors are currently facing corruption charges at the courts,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa took time to outline the successes of the New Dispensation and said ZANU PF was committed to improve the livelihood of people. He said the Government was regulating urban settlements and people will be given title deeds for their stands soon.

The President said the issuance of title deeds will eliminate the problem of land barons who were conning people.

“We have sourced funds and gave to Professor (Amon) Murwira’s ministry to carry out a geo-spatial survey. We have completed the survey and will build flats. We will move those who have built their houses on roads and relocate them to flats because we cannot move someone into the open.

“Once you get hold of your title deed, you have security for your land. It becomes your inheritance. This will ultimately do away with land barons. So we are in this process of regularising settlements as well as issuing title deeds,” said the President.

President Mnangagwa added that Government has introduced the Pfumvudza programme and was also constructing dams to solve water challenges.

“As Government, we introduced Pfumvudza and availed seeds and fertilizers for food security. We gave inputs to the people, but some are stealing. We also have a dam construction and rehabilitation programme where we are saying every village must have a solar powered borehole. Every village in three years will have a borehole running on solar. Every village will have clean water and a village garden so that we are all food secure,” added President Mnangagwa.

The President reiterated that ‘Nyika inovakwa ne vene vayo’ and mentioned that the Government’s devolution programme has positively transformed the country and improved the lives of people. He urged the electorate to be on the side of the rulers not the opposition.

The Epworth Star Rally marked the Party’s launch of its campaign programmes ahead of the by elections slatted for 26 March this year.
