‘Ncube denied Tsvangirai a chance to be State President’

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members have said that they will never forgive that party’s co vice president, Welshman Ncube for betraying the late Morgan Tsvangirai by forming a splinter group.

Members who spoke to this publication yesterday said that had it not been for Ncube who formed his MDC splinter party before the 2008, Tsvangirai might have won the state presidency.

“Today (yesterday) as we commemorate the death of our late father Tsvangirai, we will not forget how he was betrayed by Ncube who caused the split of votes during the 2008 elections. If Ncube had not selfishly dumped the then MDC, Tsvangirai could have won the state presidency. To us, Tsvangirai is our hero while Ncube is a traitor,” said one CCC member.

Another member said that Ncube was an enemy of the ‘struggle’ as he failed to support Tsvangirai’s vision when it mattered most.

“We are surprised why Ncube is still in the CCC structures. If CCC claims that it was carrying on with the legacy of Tsvangirai, then it must discard Ncube from its structures because he was against Tsvangirai’s vision. Ncube was an enemy of the struggle,” added another member.

The same CCC member added that even Tsvangirai in his book, At the Deep End, described Ncube as a traitor who worked with ZANU PF to dismantle the opposition parties. Same further accused Ncube of being a tribalist and a separatist who had no CCC at heart.

Another source based in Bulawayo said Ncube had not discarded his sell-out behaviour as he was still working against Nelson Chamisa’s vision of having a united CCC.

“Ncube is a traitor and will remain a traitor. He is currently in the process of reviving his MDC Ncube project. When Ncube re-joined the then MDC T led by Tsvangirai then, he didn’t close his party offices and this is a clear indication that he is still the president of his party. We don’t want such people with double standards in CCC,” said the source.

Efforts to get a comment from Ncube were futile as he was not answering his mobile phones.
