The beleaguered former MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe was humiliated at a Citizens Coalition for Change meeting in Bulawayo last Saturday when she was made to seat on the cold floor.

Khupe whose entry to the meeting was after a long brawl with angry youths was asked to sit down on the floor after the chair she was seated on was given to another CCC member.

A source who spoke to this publication said Khupe survived massive brawls from angry youths who didn’t want her to attend the meeting that was being addressed by Nelson Chamisa.

“A group of angry youth led by former deputy mayor Tinashe Kambarami didn’t want Khupe to attend the meeting. This group comprised of Swirthern Chiroodza, Eric Gono, Sugar Sugar, Zonda Dube, Tinashe Mutamburi, Takunda Madzana and Tsepiso Ziviri. They said Khupe had caused a lot of problems within the opposition circles, hence she must not be admitted in the CCC structures,” said the source.

The source said Khupe was only admitted into the meeting after Chamisa insisted that she should be allowed to attend.

After getting into the meeting, Khupe who grabbed a nearby chair was humiliated when the security team comprising of one Tawu, Henry and Xmas told her that she was not a senior member so she had to relinquish the chair as the few available chairs were only reserved for senior members.

The source added that the visibly shaken Khupe grudgingly complied and sat on the floor while following proceedings.

According to the source, Khupe attended the meeting after she was invited by Chamisa. The source said Khupe and Chamisa previously spoke on the phone and they agreed to bury the hatchet and work together. However, Chamisa denied ever inviting Khupe, but defended her attendance saying that as a citizen, she had the right to attend CCC meetings.

Meanwhile, Chamisa was reportedly angry with the youths who had barred Khupe and has since directed that disciplinary action be taken against them.
