UN hails Gvt for implementing ZUNDAF

United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator, Edward Kallon has applauded the Government for a successful UN Development Framework (ZUNDAF) 2016-2021 implementation in realising the Sustainable Development Goals.

In his congratulatory message, Kallon applauded the Government and the UN team for their hard work and commitment despite the challenges they encountered and also for ensuring that no one and no place is left behind.

“Chief Secretary, I would like to congratulate the Government of Zimbabwe and my UN colleagues for a successful ZUNDAF 2016-2021 implementation.  We believe that under this framework, the UN system in Zimbabwe was able to contribute significantly to inclusive growth and sustainable development in Zimbabwe.

“The hard work and commitment of the co-chairs and result group members enabled the country to deliver results despite the challenging environment posed by many factors including the humanitarian situation and the Covid-19 pandemic.  This demonstrated the commitment by the Government and the UN to realise the Sustainable Development Goals in a universal, human-rights based, transformative manner and ensuring that No One is Laft Behind,” said Kallon’

Meanwhile, Kallon further applauded the Government for its commitment in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Kallon highlighted that as UN, they remain committed to achieving the aspirations of the cooperation Framework.

“In concluding let me take this opportunity to reassure the Government that as the UN, we collectively remain committed to achieving the aspirations of the Cooperation Framework through the deployment of human, technical and financial resources in the most effective manner towards delivering on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the transformative recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kallon.

Meanwhile, Kallon expressed admiration at the engagement of Government and its Departments working together with the UN Agencies, Donors, and Development partners, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and International Financial Institutions in efforts to achieve national development priorities and in meeting the country’s Sustainable Development Goals.
