ZUNSDCF Framework in line with Zimbabwe`s developmental policies

The Chief Secretary to the President and the Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda has hailed the Zimbabwe United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (ZUNSDCF) for complementing Government efforts of turning around the economy as it thrives to attain a middle income status by 2030.

He said this at the official signing ceremony of the ZUNSDCF Framework that is expected to run from 2022 to 2025, while emphasizing that the economic blue-print NDS1 should always tally with the ZUNSDCF Framework.

“Accordingly, our conversation, today, here is to endorse that the priorities identified in the cooperation framework and NDS1 speak to each other to achieve equitable growth in our economy in pursuit of Vision 2030.

“This stance is in recognition of the need for the global community to move beyond meeting basic human needs and accelerate efforts to promote dynamic, inclusive and sustainable development,” said Dr Sibanda.

He further highlighted that the Second Republic will always ensure that all its developmental policies meet the UN standards and also the Vision 2063 Agenda of the African Union.

“It is highly satisfactory to note that the four priorities of the ZUNSDCF focusing on People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace which are all aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the NDS1 whose implementation is in progress.

“In addition, the position of the Government of Zimbabwe is that all developmental initiatives should be in harmony with the SDGs and the African Union`s Agenda 2063,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Sibanda said that Government remained open for engagement to allow international players to play their role and honor their commitments.

“While Zimbabwe acknowledges its primary responsibility towards the attainment of its development objectives and commitments to the SDGs, we remain open for engagement to allow our international partners to play their role and honor their commitments in supporting the various country-led strategies.

“The UN remains such a reliable, time-tested and trusted partner for the invaluable resources that it provides and mobilizes,” said Dr Sibanda.

The Second Republic is on record supporting all developmental programs in its journey to attain a middle income status by 2030. The ZUNSDCF Framework which will run from 2022 to 2025 and will enhance the country`s productive capacities for sustainable development, notably in the areas of infrastructure, climate proofing agriculture, retooling industrial capacity, value addition and beneficiation, ICT and e-governance solutions and efficient service delivery, youth development and engagement, women`s empowerment, and sustainable natural resource management, at the same time ensuring that no one and no place is left behind.
