Chamisa bows down to pressure

Amid growing criticism of his leadership style, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has bowed to pressure and is making frantic efforts to make amends with those he has wronged.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Chamisa had eventually swallowed his pride and sent his emissaries to meet some of his influential sympathisers who were beginning to be frustrated by his dictatorial behaviour.

According to the source, Chamisa panicked when the likes of Dr Pedzisayi Ruhanya, Hopewell Chin’ono and Professor Jonathan Moyo joined the chorus of people who were criticising his autocratic leadership style.

The source added that Chamisa had initially planned to have academic intellectuals like Ruhanya to be the anchor pins of his new political movement. However, their criticism of his leadership style has forced Chamisa to cool down and reach out to his critics.

“Chamisa has disembarked from his horse and is sending emissaries to speak with his influential supporters so that they can smoke a piece pipe ahead of the watershed 2023 elections. Chamisa’s emissaries have already met with Ruhanya who agreed to give Chamisa a second chance,” said the source.

The source added that it was Ruhanya’s tweets criticising Chamisa that forced the CCC leader to reach out to him as he feared being deserted by his influential sympathisers.

The same source claimed that Chamisa was also in the process to find common ground with Chin’ono, Mandaza and Professor Moyo in a bid to diffuse the current tension.

“Chamisa is afraid of being at loggerheads with people like Chin’ono, Mandaza and Moyo as these intellectuals have the capacity to use the power of the pen to tarnish his image ahead of the 2023 elections. In view of this, Chamisa is now trying to be nice to these guys as he wants to lure them again to his side,” said the source.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Chamisa is likely to face an internal revolt as members of his party are reportedly not happy with the manner he is running that opposition party.
