CCC infiltrates MDC-T

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is making frantic efforts to infiltrate the MDC-T ahead of that party’s elective congress scheduled for December this year.

A source who spoke to this publication said that the fight between CCC and MDC-T is still far from over as the former is doing all it can to cause chaos within the MDC-T.

According to the source, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa recently met with MDC-T’s secretary for Special Projects and Party Business, Norest Marara and urged him to contest that party’s presidency at the December congress.

“Chamisa recently met with Marara and urged him to contest against Douglas Mwonzora for the party presidency at the December congress. Marara was promised funding by Chamisa and was told that CCC will not field a candidate in Harare Central to pave way for Marara to have an automatic passage to parliament,” said the source.

The same source said that Marara told Chamisa that Mwonzora’s popularity within the MDC -T has dwindled and boldly claimed that he will snatch the presidency from him if funding for campaigns is availed.

According to the source, Chamisa further agreed with Marara that in the event that he wins the MDC-T presidency, he should surrender Harvest House to CCC and make efforts to merge the two political parties before 2023 elections.

“If it happens that Marara wins the MDC-T presidency, he would handover Harvest House back to Chamisa. This is what they agreed in that meeting. Marara will also push to merge MDC-T and CCC ahead of the 2023 elections,” said the source

Efforts to get a comment from both Chamisa and Marara were futile as they were not reachable on their mobile phones.
