ZANU PF sets ground for 2023 elections

The Ruling party ZANU PF continues to flex its muscles as it makes inroads into the urban areas that were once believed to be Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) strongholds.

This follows the by-election victory that ZANU PF scored in Gweru, Binga and Mberengwa constituencies on 3 December 2022.

The recent by elections triumph by ZANU PF has set the tone for the party to cruise to an emphatic victory in the forthcoming plebiscite. Out of the five seats, ZANU PF managed to grab three seats in Binga ward 20, Gweru ward 5 and Mberengwa ward 28 with a total of 1 764 against 1446 for CCC.

“It is pragmatic not to expect miracles in 2023. The pattern will hold,” said the Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana.

Making reference to the recent victory margins, Political Analyst Tichatonga Nzekete stressed that ZANU PF already has an upper hand in the 2023 harmonised election.

"If you are good with numbers, take a good look at these results. It's so clear that there is no way that ZANU PF could lose 2023 elections. In fact, getting two thirds of the majority is no longer a question. The question is, by how many MPs ZANU PF will go above two thirds. There is no way any sensible person who studied Mathematics and Statistics can see hope in the Opposition win after these results,”   said Nzekete.

ZANU PF party leadership is happy that the party members showed their resilience by casting their votes for the Party.

“I personally commend ZANU PF supporters for coming out in their numbers and casting their votes in favour of the people’s party, may that spirit continue until the ZANU PF watershed victory in the 2023 Harmonised General Elections,” said Makumire on his official Facebook page.

Meanwhile, CCC activist, Hopewell Chin’ono has predicted a ZANU PF victory in the 2023 plebiscite based on the recent by-election results.  The election victory by ZANU PF has been credited to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s policies that seek to leave no one and no place behind as the country forges for an Upper Middle Income Economy by 2030.
