While reaffirming its commitment to improve service delivery through the issuance of vital registration and travel documents the Civil Registry Department (CRD) has announced new measures put in place to meet the demand for E-passport head-on, at a time  when most Diasporans are in the country for holiday.

Speaking through a press statement the Department of Civil Registration said that it has adjusted its working hours for Bulawayo Passport Office in order to meet the demand for E-passport applications.

“The Civil Registry Department wishes to advise its valued stakeholders that in addition to the Harare Passport Office, the Bulawayo Passport Office will now be operational from 0700hrs to 1900hrs during weekdays and on Saturday between 0800hrs and 1500hrs. The new measure is meant to assist all persons applying for the E-passport with effect from Wednesday, 28 December 2022 until further notice,” read the statement.

Moreover, the CRD advised that in order to decongest the Harare and Bulawayo Offices it has other centres ready for the issuance of E-passports albeit operational during the normal working hours.

“Please take note that the Civil Registry Department is also issuing E-Passports at the following registry offices during normal working hours; Beitbridge District Registry; Hwange District Registry; Lupane Provincial Registry; Gweru Provincial Registry; Chitungwiza District Registry; Murewa District Registry; Marondera Provincial Registry; Chinhoyi Provincial Registry.

“All other vital civil registration documents will continue to be issued during normal weekday operating times,” concluded the statement.

Meanwhile, the CRD continues to respond to the high demand for their services by devising strategies that will enhance service delivery, in order to facilitate efficient E-passport services.
