The long-awaited Delimitation Report has been welcomed by aspiring candidates from all political parties indicating that they can now prepare for their primaries as they now know their wards and constituencies.

ZANU PF Director of Information and Publicity, Tafadzwa Mugwadi publicized his flyer for Buhera West constituency, a move which shows how content he is with the outcome of the Delimitation Report. Mugwadi’s flyer is inscribed that, ‘It is now time to act with less talk.’

Another aspiring councilor for Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) ward 13, Mbizo constituency, Nkosilathi Moyo said that he was happy with the Delimitation report and was now preparing his ground with full knowledge of his area.

“We welcome the report as we have waited in anticipation of it. We were not clear on the boundaries of our wards in order to campaign but now that the report is out, we are active on the ground,” said Moyo.

However, there are some constituencies that were collapsed due to low registered voter registration.

According to the report, Chikomba Central was collapsed, as a result, two constituencies namely Chikomba East and Chikomba West remained. In the Midlands province, Mberengwa South was also collapsed and three constituencies remained namely, Mberengwa East, Mberengwa West and Mberengwa Central.

Delimitation is the process of dividing the country into constituencies and wards for purposes of electing constituency seats in the National Assembly and councilors to local authorities. The process is carried out in terms of sections 160 and 161 of the new constitution

The report was gazetted on 20 February 2023 in the Government Gazette. Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has highlighted that the date for the Harmonized Election date would soon be set.
