African Presidents jets in for Transform Africa Summit

Five African Heads of State are expected in Victoria Falls today for the Transform Africa Summit that starts this morning.

In a Post Cabinet media briefing yesterday, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa said that several African Presidents have confirmed their attendance to the summit.

“Cabinet wishes to inform the nation that His Excellency the President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa will host Heads of State and Government at the Transform Africa Summit being held in Victoria Falls on 26 April, 2023.  The Heads of State and Government who have confirmed their attendance are His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini; President Paul Kagame of Rwanda; President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi; President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia; and President F. Gnassingbe of Togo,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

Meanwhile, King Mswati III was the first to arrive in Victoria Falls yesterday evening and was welcomed by the Foreign Affairs and International Affairs Minister Ambassador Friderick Shava, Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Richard Moyo; Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister; Professor Amon Murwira Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere; service chiefs and other Government officials.

Other Heads of State are expected to jet in for the summit this morning.

Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Sinisa Mali; 40 ministers, and other dignitaries are expected to grace the summit where over 3000 delegates are expected.

The three-day summit is an annual forum that brings together global and regional leaders from government, business and international organisations to collaborate on new ways of shaping, accelerating and sustaining Africa’s on-going digital revolution. It is running under the theme: “Connect, Innovate and Transform” and it’s the first time the event is being held outside Rwanda which hosted the previous five editions.
