Chamisa castigated for attacking Zanu PF

The MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has been lambasted by analysts over his ill-conceived statements that he made against Zanu PF today while addressing a press conference at his party’s headquarters in Harare.

Addressing journalists, Chamisa said the MDC Alliance would start a ‘political programme’ to liberate rural areas from the grip of the ruling party, Zanu PF. He went on to equate the revolutionary party to terrorist groups such as Al Shabaab, Al Qaeda and Isis saying under normal circumstances, the Zanu PF party should not be allowed to operate.

However, Chamisa’s statement did not go down well with Zanu PF sympathisers who felt the MDC Alliance leader was being too ambitious to be in power to the extent of likening their political party to terrorist groups.

Commenting on the issue, one netizen, Saber Rider @Saber Rider questioned Chamisa’s utterances saying, “What do you mean? Has he just called our party a terrorist organisation? I’m not liking this guy’s tone. He has called me a terrorist for supporting a party.”

The MDC Alliance leader also declared that he would not accept the Constitutional Court’s ruling if the judgement does not announce him as a winner.

In his statement, Chamisa told his followers that, “Change is indeed coming and stay ready to celebrate. Yes it has taken too long and the process has been frustrating for you, but we must remain strong and focused on victory.”

Chamisa’s victory statement has been disparaged by political commentators who questioned how he was already declaring himself a winner before the court ruling.

Previously, another MDC Alliance principal, Tendai Biti was charged for contravening the Electoral law by announcing unofficial results, which is a prerogative of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
