President Emmerson Mnangagwa has castigated the scoundrel business people and illegal money changers who are profiteering through increasing prices of commodities and also sabotaging the local currency through inflating prices and increasing the exchange rate on the parallel market.

Addressing a gathering at  the Young Women For Economic Development First Time Voters today, President Mnangagwa indicated that the law would descend heavily on the culprits who would be found sabotaging the local currency and inflating prices of goods and services.

“Those who are focusing on attacking our currency must stop. We shall not tolerate this nonsense from happening in our economy. Licenses shall be withdrawn from those increasing prices. We cannot tolerate this any longer and those doing this should stand warned. Love must remain key traits among our people,” said President Mnangagwa.

The President  urged the nation to avoid being used by economic saboteurs who are puppets of the west.

“Do not follow those who are being used by whites in this country to destabilize this country. Your vote on 23 August 2023 must be a rejection of those who are bringing suffering to our people. Your vote for ZANU PF is a refusal to be used by puppets. Your freedom is only guaranteed under ZANU PF and not those pushing alien ideas to us, we are Zimbabweans,” articulated President Mnangagwa.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa highlighted that the Government had opened the borders to counter those bend on sabotaging the economy. On 11 May 2023, the Government announced measures to stabilize the exchange rate and macro economy. Amongst the measures was the lifting of duty on importation of basic goods.
