CCC candidates defecting to ZANU PF en masse

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters are defecting from that party in droves, as that party continues to show signs of ineptitude.

Speaking to this publication, on the sidelines of a rally addressed by Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga in Mt Darwin, former CCC member, Brian Pongweni who contested for Ward 24 in Mt Darwin, during the 2018 Harmonised General Elections under the MDC Alliance ticket, claimed that he wasted his time in CCC, as it lacked progressive ideas.

“After realizing that I had wasted much of my time when I was in the CCC, I decided to align myself and my family with ZANU PF.  In the years I have been aligned to the CCC, I remained stagnant with nothing progressive to note.

“I realized that the CCC leadership only moved the western regime change agenda, as dictated by the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK) and nothing for the people of Zimbabwe,’’ said Pongweni.

Pongweni further praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the development that he has spearheaded in the five years that he has been in power.

“President Mnangagwa has done a lot to upgrade our lives and livelihoods.  He has managed to construct roads, dams, schools and to drill boreholes in the rural areas.  We are benefiting from those initiatives.

“My reason for defecting to ZANU PF is so that I can help mobilise Party supporters, so that when we go and vote we can vote resoundingly for the People’s Party knowing fairly well that we will be voting for our own development and progress,” he said.

In a recent development, former MDC Alliance legislator, Lindiwe Maphosa defected to ZANU PF along with nine other MDC-A proportional representation legislators.  The nine legislators were Memory Mbonda, Brightness Mangora, Lindani Maphosa, Bessy Ngoma, Nyaradzo Gozho, Peter Moyo and Winnie Kankuni.  She accused CCC and MDC leaders of being disorganized and turning opposition politics into students’ activism.
