Joy in Mt Darwin as Mukaradzi Mine reopened

There was joy in Mt Darwin, yesterday, as Vice President Constantino Chiwenga announced that Mukaradzi Mine, which had been closed for some time, was going to be reopened for the local artisanal miners.

The announcement was made during a ZANU PF rally at Chiunye Primary School in Mt Darwin. Vice President Chiwenga said that the mine would be reopened for artisanal miners, who should follow all the prescribed mining laws in the country.

 “Tavhura Mukaradzi Mine yanga yakavharwa kuti mukwanise kushanda. Chatinoda kuti mushande zvakanaka muchitevedzera mitemo yehurumende. Hatichada kunzwa izwi rekuti mukorokoza,nekuti vanhu ivavo vanonzi ma artisanal miners,” said Vice President Chiwenga.

In addition to announcing the reopening of Mukaradzi Mine, Vice President Chiwenga also urged artisanal miners to practice good mining practices. He said that the Government was committed to ensuring that the mining sector is developed in a sustainable way.

Vice President Chiwenga also said that the Government was determined to continue uplifting the lives of its people and that it was working to create jobs, to improve education, and to provide healthcare.

The Vice President added that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Administration was committed to making Zimbabwe a better place for everyone.

ZANU PF Mt Darwin District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairperson, Cde Ranganai Cletous Chiminyu said that the reopening of Mukaradzi Mine was a welcome development for the people of Mt Darwin.

“The reopening of Mukaradzi Mine and Vice President Chiwenga's message of hope were well-received by the people of Mt Darwin. They are confident that the Government is committed to improving their lives. The mine is a major source of employment and income for the area. It is also a significant source of tax revenue for the Government. The reopening of the mine is a sign that the Government is committed to developing the country's mining sector. It is also a sign that the Government is committed to improving the lives of its people,” said Cde Chiminyu.

People of Mt Darwin who spoke to this publication expressed joy for the re-opening of Mukaradzi Mine. They said that the mine would provide the much-needed employment and income for the area. They also said that they were grateful to President Mnangagwa for finally opening the mine.
