Fissures have emerged between Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa and Bulawayo City Council (BCC) Mayor, David Coltart, over perceptions by the former that the latter was receiving bribes and failing to share the spoils.

Sources close to Chamisa have revealed that Chamisa believes that Coltart benefitted between ZAR65 000 and 75 000 from unnamed individuals and pocketed it all. According to sources close to Chamisa, the embattled CCC leader believes that the BCC Mayor received the bribe from shadowy business people.

Chamisa is said to have been livid with Coltart and expressed disdain for the Mayor. He has vowed to “finish him off”. The sources indicated that Chamisa was now working with some BCC Councilors to undermine Coltart with the ultimate aim of having a vote of no confidence passed on the Mayor.

Chamisa had hoped that the CCC would get funding treasury as provided for in the Political Parties Finance Act. However, Sengezo Tshabangu has embarked on lawfare which may see the money going to Tshabangu and not Chamisa.
